False Teachers
READ
2 Peter 2:1
1 But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.
False teachers, as false prophets, “cleverly teach destructive heresies” and even deny the Lord Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. They seek to destroy their listeners; instead their teaching “will bring sudden destruction on themselves.” Christ-followers need to be on guard about those who seem religious but who do not teach accurately what the Bible says.
REFLECT
Do you take your Bible to church to compare and carefully examine what is being said about it?
RESPOND
See the example of the Bereans and what they did when they heard the Scriptures taught. With a friend, read Acts 17:10-12. They did not even believe the apostle Paul and Silas without carefully comparing the Scriptures they had with what Paul and Silas were teaching.
