2 Peter – Week 4 – Day 2

READ 

2 Peter 2:12-13 

12 These false teachers are like unthinking animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed. They scoff at things they do not understand, and like animals, they will be destroyed. 13 Their destruction is their reward for the harm they have done. They love to indulge in evil pleasures in broad daylight. They are a disgrace and a stain among you. They delight in deception even as they eat with you in your fellowship meals. 

The false teachers live like animals without responsiveness to their spiritual side. Their conduct is like that of Judas who betrayed Jesus. They participate in activities of believers even though they are not believers themselves. That is what today would be called “Cultural Christians”—they go along with the culture even though they have not trusted Jesus for salvation. 

REFLECT 

Be watchful for others who may go along with group meetings in your church but do not talk about Jesus themselves. Do they have a personal relationship with Him or not? 

RESPOND 

Be ready with a passage of Scripture that describes what will eventually happen to those who fake being spiritual, even as Judas did as he betrayed Jesus. See Matthew 7:22-23 about those who have religion but not a relationship with Jesus.
