READ
2 Peter 3:3-4
3 Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. 4 They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”
What Peter wrote in the first century is even more evident today. Scoffers mock spiritual truths and live as if they are gods, deciding what is right and wrong. It had been promised that Jesus would come again and they make fun of this because He has not yet returned. They do not think anything has changed since it first came into being. What a surprise awaits them!
REFLECT
Even though it has been a long time since Jesus promised to come again, we are much closer to it now than we were a century ago.
RESPOND
For someone concerned about refuting the scoffers, keep reading what Peter says in this chapter. Share this with a friend.
