READ
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
11 So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. 12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Before going on to correct their misunderstanding, Paul assures them of prayers that they will live a godly life. He wants them to do all their faith prompts them to do. When that is true the Lord will be honored and also they will be. Again Paul mentioned the word that was so significant in his life—grace. All of this would be possible because of the grace of the Father and of the Son.
REFLECT
As a believer in Jesus, do you realize that a godly life is an honor to Him and is because of the grace of God in all He has done for you?
RESPOND
Notice how important it is the way a believer lives. This is the evidence he or she has really trusted in Jesus as Savior and not just mouthing words. In Jesus’ days on earth there were some who “believed” in Him but then they also wanted to stone Him to death, revealing they had not trusted in Him as Savior. See John 8:30, 58-59 in this regard. They had learned information about Him but had not trusted in Him as Savior.
