READ
2 Thessalonians 2:5-6
5 Don’t you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you? 6 And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes.
Paul reminded them they had talked about this when he was with them for about a month. In this short time with these new believers in Jesus, Paul taught them prophecy about the end times. Apparently Paul even told them what was holding back the revealing of the “man of lawlessness.” Now there are various opinions about what is holding him back. It seems the best suggestion is the Holy Spirit working through present-day believers.
REFLECT
Are you attending a church group that teaches the Bible? If so, you no doubt have heard comments about this passage of Scripture. It is an important one.
RESPOND
Satan is the one working through the Antichrist in the Tribulation. Satan himself wants to be worshiped as God. In this regard, read Isaiah 14:12-14 that addresses the King of Babylon yet says things not possibly true about him. Some believe Ezekiel 28:13-15 also describes Satan.
This causes many to think it is a description of Satan who was created as a cherub but fell from that lofty position.
