READ
2 Thessalonians 2:9-10
9 This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. 10 He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them.
Paul continued to write about the “man of lawlessness” (also known as the “man of sin”; the Antichrist) he had mentioned in verse 3. Just as Jesus and his apostles had come with signs, wonders and miracles, the Antichrist will deceive people with them. Satan will also empower him to do this. Those deceived are the ones who had refused to accept the truth and believe in Jesus for salvation. Had they done that they would have been raptured before the Tribulation began.
REFLECT
Think of how easily it is to be deceived if one does not accept the truth and trust in Jesus for salvation. This means one must be discerning, however, in messages presented by non-believers.
RESPOND
Regarding testing seemingly supernatural things for the truth, read Deuteronomy 13:1-4 for what God told Israel about what to do. It had to be tested by the message. Now you should compare the message with what the Bible says.
