READ
2 Thessalonians 3:3-4
3 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. 4 And we are confident in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we commanded you.
Having asked the Thessalonian believers to pray for him and his companions, Paul encouraged them. He told them the Lord would strengthen them and guard them from the devil. (When the word “evil” appears with the definite article (the) in the original language (Greek), it is referring to a person so it is a reference to “the evil one.”) Paul was confident they were doing and would do what had been commanded them.
REFLECT
All believers need protection from the devil and his emissaries, the demons. As Paul said, “The Lord is faithful” and will strengthen and guard you from the spiritual enemies.
RESPOND
With your friend, read Ephesians 6:10-12 to see believers are fighting a spiritual warfare. See also 1 John 4:4 to be comforted by the truth that the Holy Spirit in the believer is greater than the spiritual enemy in the world.
