READ
2 Thessalonians 3:5
5 May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.
Notice in this short verse all that Paul expressed. He wanted the Lord to lead them into 1) a full understanding; 2) expression of the love of God; and 3) patient endurance that comes from Christ. The believers in Thessalonica were being persecuted for their faith, and Paul wanted them to experience God’s goodness at this time.
REFLECT
Even if you are not being persecuted for your faith, you need what Paul wanted for the believers in Thessalonica. How are you doing in this regard?
RESPOND
Do you wonder how one could love those persecuting them? Read Matthew 5:44 to see Jesus commanded this. The word used for “love” in this passage means to seek the person’s highest good. It does not mean you need to agree with the persecutors. Pray they will come to Jesus.
