READ
2 Thessalonians 3:18
18 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Another distinctive of the letters preserved from Paul in the New Testament is his final greeting. He was always captivated by the thought of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Having been a Pharisee trying to earn favor with God by works, he never got over the concept about the grace of God that made salvation a gift—something entirely unearned.
REFLECT
Have you come from a background of religion trying to earn favor before God by works? If so, surely you are overwhelmed by the grace of God and realizing Christianity is a relationship, not a religion.
RESPOND
This would be a good time for you and your friend to read some verses about God’s grace. See Romans 3:24; 5:21; 6:13-15; 11:5-6, and cap this off by reading Ephesians 2:8-9.
