2 Timothy 2:1-2
1 Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. 2 You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.
What strengthens a believer to keep ministering? Paul was not referring to physical strength but to inner spiritual strength. When one is overwhelmed with the grace of God, as Paul was, that person will never wish to quit serving Jesus and telling others about Him. Paul did not tell Timothy to teach these truths to those who were not interested and would not pass them on, but to teach them to “trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.”
REFLECT
What motivates you to keep telling others about Jesus? Tell others about your motivation.
RESPOND
Consider what must be done if you wish to reach as many people as soon as possible with the best means possible. You would not spend time with the disinterested or those who refuse to pass on your teaching. You would want to follow Paul’s advice to “teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.”
