READ
2 Timothy 2:8-10
8 Always remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of King David, was raised from the dead. This is the Good News I preach. 9 And because I preach this Good News, I am suffering and have been chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained. 10 So I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen.
Paul emphasized the resurrection of Jesus as he proclaimed the Gospel to others. Because of preaching this message he was “chained like a criminal.” He rejoiced that God’s word could not be chained. He was also willing to suffer anything he had to in order to present the Gospel of the resurrected Christ to others so they might find salvation in Him.
REFLECT
Does this passage of Scripture encourage you to endure whatever you must in order to tell others about Jesus?
RESPOND
With another believer, read 1 Corinthians 15:1-9 to see what Paul wrote about the Gospel. Included is not only the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus but also eyewitnesses to these events. Paul was writing around A.D. 55 so if one did not believe what he said they could ask some of the eyewitnesses.
