READ
2 Timothy 2:15
15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
These are encouraging statements the apostle Paul made to younger Timothy that apply to all believers. Every follower of Jesus should want to live in such a way to receive His approval. Paul wanted Timothy and others not to be ashamed but able to “correctly explain the word of truth.” A believer is responsible to teach the Scriptures correctly. This is not easily achieved so it is understandable that Paul said to “work hard.”
REFLECT
How are you doing in developing your ability to explain the word of God more clearly and correctly?
RESPOND
Talk with a friend about what kind of person it is that needs to be ashamed. Read Proverbs 10:5 about the shame of napping during harvest. See John 4:31-42 where Jesus ministers to the people from a Samaritan village. It would have been wrong for the disciples to be ignoring a spiritual harvest in front of them.
