READ
2 Timothy 3:8-9
8 These teachers oppose the truth just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. They have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith. 9 But they won’t get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Jannes and Jambres.
Paul continued to describe the false teachers and their ultimate end. Paul said they “have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith.” Apparently God revealed to Paul the names of two of Pharaoh’s magicians who opposed Moses. Their names are not mentioned in the Old Testament. Someday all will recognize the false teachers as fools, just as these Old Testament men were. A terrible judgment waits for false teachers.
REFLECT
Do you know the genuine faith well enough to recognize a counterfeit faith? Be suspicious when they claim to have their own Bible and are following an earthly leader rather than Jesus.
RESPOND
Are you interested in learning more about what the Bible says about false teachers? With a friend read 2 Peter 2:1-3. If this triggers more interest, read the other 19 verses in this chapter. The chapter reveals false teachers will be judged by God for misleading people.
