READ
2 Timothy 3:12-13
12 Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.
This may not be encouraging to read. If one determines to live a godly life, he or she may suffer consequences. While the godly person suffers, evil people and spiritual fakes will do well. Notice, however, that these false teachers are not only deceiving others, they are also deceiving themselves.
REFLECT
Is it your desire to live a godly life? Do you realize you may be persecuted for doing so?
RESPOND
Visit with a friend about how persecution might come to a believer. In the classroom others may think you are foolish not to cheat on papers and exams. In business one might be kept from a better position and salary because of having biblical values. Personally you may be ridiculed because you believe what the Bible teaches about sexual relationships and marriage.
