READ
2 Timothy 4:9-10
9 Timothy, please come as soon as you can. 10 Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus has gone to Dalmatia.
These verses reveal Paul’s desire for Christian fellowship. He was lonely in the Roman prison. He wanted Timothy to come as soon as he could. Demas was more in love with the things of this life than standing with Paul. This is the only mention of Crescens and Dalmatia in the Bible. Titus is mentioned 10 times in 2 Corinthians, the most autobiographical letter Paul wrote.
REFLECT
Do you also get lonely for Christian fellowship? This is the way God has made you. If you are part of the family of God, it is a natural spiritual desire to want to be with the family.
RESPOND
Join with a friend in focusing on the end of Paul’s second letter to Timothy. There are some matters in it that tear at your heart. Paul was lonely and some were forsaking him or had gone on to other responsibilities.
