READ
2 Timothy 4:20
20 Erastus stayed at Corinth, and I left Trophimus sick at Miletus.
Paul told of two people who would be of interest to Timothy. Acts 19:22 indicates Erastus was one of Paul’s assistants. What Paul said about Trophimus is sobering. As an apostle, Paul had the gift of healing. See what the apostle said of himself in 2 Corinthians 12:12. But he “left Trophimus sick at Miletus.” This reveals that even the apostle did not always heal those in his presence.
REFLECT
Do you realize that even though God can heal, even He does not always do so?
RESPOND
It is thought that 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 describes what Paul went through at some point in his life. He appealed to the Lord three times for the “thorn in the flesh” to be taken away, but that was never done. Visit with a friend about what God told Paul at that time and how it can be of encouragement to you now.
