READ
2 Timothy 4:21
21 Do your best to get here before winter. Eubulus sends you greetings, and so do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers and sisters.
In 2 Timothy 4:9, 13, Paul told Timothy to come as soon as he could and to bring his coat. Now he told him to get to him before winter. Paul must have been uncomfortable in the damp dungeon and knew it would get worse. Paul sent greetings from several people Timothy would know—not only specifically named ones, but also from “all the brothers and sisters.” It must have been encouraging to Timothy to read these greetings from his friends.
REFLECT
Tell someone of a few of the times you have been encouraged to receive greetings from friends. Let this encourage you to send others greetings.
RESPOND
Read Proverbs 11:25 to see how encouraging others also encourages you. Talk with a friend about Barnabas whose name meant “Son of Encouragement” (see Acts 4:36). How would you like to be known like that?
