A Tribute to Herman Rohlfs

As we move forward into 2024, we want to give honor to someone who was integral in Back to the Bible’s past accomplishments. Herman Rohlfs. If you don’t recognize his name, chances are you might recognize the smooth, beautiful tones of his voice which ushered in daily Back to the Bible radio messages for many years. Herman passed away on November 16, 2023. A celebration of his life was held on November 20th.

Having come to Back to the Bible in 1958, Herman’s first duty was that of duplicating reels of taped programs and mailing them around the world. Later he began announcing and producing those programs and eventually became chief engineer. He felt privileged to have served with Theodore Epp, Warren Wiersbe, and Woodrow Kroll and was known by his co-workers to be wonderfully talented, yet humble and very generous in spirit. After retiring in 2000, Herman still saw to it to come in and volunteer when he could.

Herman was also well loved by his neighbors and, of course, his family. He is survived by Marjorie, his beloved wife of 62 years, as well as their 2 children and spouses, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

One of Herman’s favorite verses sums up the joy in which he lived and continues to live in the presence of His Lord and Savior. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11
