Focusing on the Truth - Part Four

By: Cheri Fuller

"Just as saving faith comes through hearing the gospel, so also the faith to trust God in adversity comes through the Word of God alone. Only in scripture do we find an adequate view of God’s relationship to and involvement in our painful circumstances. Only from the scriptures, applied to our hearts by the Holy Spirit, do we receive the grace to trust God when we are afraid."

Jerry Bridges

Worry Busters

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? . . . No, in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35–39 NIV)

Lord, I thank You that nothing can separate me from Your love in Christ Jesus. Nothing—trouble, hardship, danger, death, or any powers or force, now or in the future—can remove me from Your hand. How I praise You for Your forever love that holds me. Give me a steadfast heart to believe and confidently stand on this truth, whatever I face in my life.

Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. (Exodus 14:13 AMP)

God, strengthen me by Your Spirit to be confident in You and not to shake in my boots. Empower me to trust You until I see Your salvation worked in my life. As I turn from worry to focus on You, fill me with awe and wonder about how great You are.
