READ
Galatians 5:24-26
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
Paul used the expression of something nailed to the cross to tell the Galatians to do so with their sinful nature’s passions and desires. Those who know Jesus and have the indwelling Holy Spirit should follow His leading in their lives. They should not think of themselves as more important than others nor consider themselves less important than others. Everyone is on the same level at the cross.
REFLECT
Is it your desire to please Jesus in all you do? What is your thinking about yourself in relation to others?
RESPOND
With a friend read 2 Corinthians 12:19-21 to see what Paul wrote to the Corinthians about some of the same passions and lusts about which he wrote to the Galatians. Discuss what this passage should mean to both of you.
