READ
Galatians 6:1-3
1 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. 2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. 3 If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.
Paul urged spiritual believers to help other believers having problems with temptation. Paul mentioned the attitude they should have as they approached another believer with problems. How sad it is when the one helping another with a temptation falls into the temptation himself. By helping others with their burdens, believers are obeying Christ’s command to love others as they love themselves. Those who think they are too important to help others are only fooling themselves.
REFLECT
When was the last time you sought to help a brother or sister in Jesus? Did God enable you to be successful in doing so?
RESPOND
Read Matthew 23:8-9 to see what Jesus said about people being on an equal level. Believers in Jesus do not have rank over other followers of Jesus. In time some become more spiritually mature than others. They should be helping those who are equal but less spiritually mature.
