READ
Galatians 6:17-18
17 From now on, don’t let anyone trouble me with these things. For I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus. 18 Dear brothers and sisters, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
Paul referred to the scars he had because of preaching a gospel of grace and not of works. This revealed he truly belonged to Jesus. Read 2 Corinthians 11:16-27 that tells what Paul had experienced. No one should have questioned his devotion to Jesus. Paul ended his letter by mentioning the “grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.” This was a constant theme on his lips. May it be so for all believers in Jesus.
REFLECT
Have you shared with someone how thankful you are for the grace of God in providing eternal salvation for you? In doing so, you may find others who are also grateful for God’s grace.
RESPOND
Before his conversion, Paul was a Jewish Pharisee trying to keep the Old Testament law. After trusting in Jesus he wrote Colossians 2:16. Those who believe in religious rituals and keeping a particular day of the week to be right with God do not follow what the Bible teaches. Paul began his letter to the Galatians by saying that such people preach a different gospel (see Galatians 1:6-9). In the Old Testament, those who didn’t keep the Sabbath were to be put to death (see Exodus 35:2). No one does that today. Rejoice that Christ-followers should live by grace and not by Old Testament laws.
