READ
Galatians 2:17-18
17 But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we are found guilty because we have abandoned the law. Would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely not! 18 Rather, I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down.
The law was a system of good works whose intent was to show people their need so they would turn to God (see Romans 3:19-20). In fact if one tries to build a system of good works after Jesus has fulfilled the law system, that person is rebuilding a good-works system. The book of Galatians reveals that good works have nothing to do with a person becoming right with God or being kept by God.
REFLECT
Are you motivated by your love for Jesus because of what He has done for you or do you serve Him out of obligation?
RESPOND
Although there have been various ages over time, salvation has always been by grace through faith. See Genesis 15:6 to see how Abraham was saved before the law was given. See Romans 4:4-8 to see how David was saved during the age of the law.
