READ
Galatians 3:11-12
11 So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” 12 This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says, “It is through obeying the law that a person has life.”
Verse 11 makes it clear that no one can become right with God by attempting to keep the law. It has been translated, “the just shall live by faith.” Arguments are sometimes made about whether a person could be made right with God if he kept all of it. It is impossible for anyone to keep all the law. The purpose of the law was to show mankind its need so it would turn to God by faith. Verse 12 reveals the law has nothing to do with faith, but if a person decides to go this way he must try to keep all of it.
REFLECT
Do you now see it is impossible to be made right with God by trying to keep the Old Testament laws?
RESPOND
With a friend read Romans 3:19-22 that tells the purpose of the laws in the Old Testament and how to get right with God.
