READ
Galatians 3:17-18
17 This is what I am trying to say: The agreement God made with Abraham could not be canceled 430 years later when God gave the law to Moses. God would be breaking his promise. 18 For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God’s promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise.
Paul said the unconditional promises God made to Abraham could not be set aside by the conditional commands in the Mosaic covenant of the law. Paul stressed the need for the Galatian Jewish people to realize they did not have to add part of law-keeping to believing in Jesus in order to be right with God.
REFLECT
The believer does good works after being saved to show appreciation for what Jesus has done. Do you realize that all that’s needed to be right with God is to believe in Jesus by faith?
RESPOND
Talk with a fellow believer to be sure neither of you are trusting in good works of any kind to make you right with God. Encourage each other to do many good works to show appreciation for what Jesus has done for you.
