READ
Galatians 3:21-22
21 Is there a conflict, then, between God’s law and God’s promises? Absolutely not! If the law could give us new life, we could be made right with God by obeying it. 22 But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.
Paul emphasized there was no conflict between the law and grace. Before believing in Jesus by faith, everyone was a prisoner of sin. Freedom is made possible only by faith in believing in Jesus Christ. Paul was especially addressing Jewish readers who thought that circumcision had to be added to belief in Jesus in order to be right with God.
REFLECT
Is your confidence in Jesus alone for salvation, apart from works of any kind? If so, you will do many good works after believing in Jesus to show your gratefulness.
RESPOND
Read Romans 4:9-10 to see how clearly Paul pointed out how Abraham was right before God before the rite of circumcision.
