READ
Galatians 3:26-29
26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.
The Jewish people could not imagine themselves being in the same family as Gentiles. When people are in the body of Christ through trusting in Him, all distinctions are erased. Abraham had believed in God by faith and all who do likewise are considered his children in a spiritual sense. The word “children” in the Greek text is “sons” that refers to those treated as adults with all the rights and privileges.
REFLECT
Think about how special it is that in the body of Christ all are equal.
RESPOND
With another believer read 1 Corinthians 12:12-13. This passage tells when one becomes part of the body of Christ by being baptized--placed into--the body through belief in Jesus. At that time each believer becomes a member of the body. The larger passage tells about each believer being given a gift.
