Galatians – Week 7 – Day 2

READ 

Galatians 4:4-7 

4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. 6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. 

There are many reasons it was the “right time” when God sent Jesus to be born into the world. Examples are the Roman Empire had an excellent road system with trade routes; Greek had become the language of the day so the Gospel could be easily communicated widely. God knew the right time to send His son. The adoption referred to in verse 5 was not as it is thought of today. It had to do then with accepting His own children as sons with adult privileges. Such children also have the privileges of inheritance.

Are you thankful that even if you do not know the right time for things, God does?

Visit with a friend about how when you trusted Jesus as Savior, you not only became children of God (see John 1:12), but you also became accepted as adult children as Galatians 4 describes. Thank the Lord for all you have experienced because of His love and grace.
