Galatians 4:10-12
10 You are trying to earn favor with God by observing certain days or months or seasons or years. 11 I fear for you. Perhaps all my hard work with you was for nothing. 12 Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to live as I do in freedom from these things, for I have become like you Gentiles—free from those laws. You did not mistreat me when I first preached to you.
The apostle Paul had come out of a system of observing special days, months, and seasons. He had presented the freedom he had found in Jesus as he preached to the Galatians. He wanted them to live as He now lived as a Christ-follower. He had a spiritual bond with the people as he invested in their lives and reminded them of how much they thought of him at the time.
REFLECT
Do you see from Paul’s comments that it is important to have a good relationship with those to whom you are witnessing and ministering?
RESPOND
Talk with a friend about what others are seeing in your lives that makes them want to listen to you as friends. Use the checklist of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23 to guide you in your discussion. Are these nine fruits seen in your life?
