READ
Galatians 4:26-27
26 But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother. 27 As Isaiah said, “Rejoice, O childless woman,
you who have never given birth! Break into a joyful shout, you who have never been in labor! For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband!”
Sarah represented the heavenly Jerusalem, mentioned in Revelation 21:1-2. She is the “free woman,” that is, she experienced the grace of God in contrast to Hagar who represents the law system. Sarah’s descendants will eventually be more numerous than Hagar’s.
REFLECT
Do you see that the fulfillment of God’s promises is always worth waiting for? Think of this in your own life.
RESPOND
Talk with a friend about some of God’s work in your lives. Some are in need of healing physically. God has that ability, but He does not always do it. One of the signs of an apostle (2 Corinthians 12:12) was the ability to perform signs, wonders and miracles. But the apostle Paul did not heal everyone. In fact, he left Trophimus at Miletus sick (2 Timothy 4:20). Remember also that all healing is temporary because someday we will all be in eternity.
