A Note from the Editor.
Our 24-hour news cycle and soundbite culture has built the trajectory of the November 5
election to a fevered pitch. In this issue of Spiritually Fit. Together. we’re taking a step back to remember that each of us is a work in progress when it comes to growing closer to Jesus. None of us has arrived—we’re only pilgrims on a long journey together encouraging and supporting each other to keep pressing on while trying to bring others along.
This is our time to remember who we are in and for this world. We are God’s people set apart for His purposes. At the beginning of the Bible we are reminded, “For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes” (Deuteronomy 10:17, NIV). As the Bible concludes in the great triumph of
good over evil, the One we serve is described in Revelation 19:15-16 (NIV) in this way:
“Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”
In these final weeks of waiting, let's pray for our communities, states and country for God to raise up the next generation of leaders He desires in the coming election.
Trying to patiently wait,
Bryon Swanson, Editor
