Philippians 4:16-17
16 Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once. 17 I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.
Paul was expressing how grateful he was for the gift the Philippian believers had sent without seeming like he was asking for another gift. His greatest concern was that he wanted them to receive a reward for what they had done. This indicates Paul believed God rewards those who do what they can to support others materially after receiving something spiritual from them.
REFLECT
Even though you give financially to help one in a spiritual ministry to you, here you see God rewards you for doing so.
RESPOND
Discuss with your disciple what Paul said about those who would like to give more than they are able. 2 Corinthians 8:12 is a good verse to use in this regard.
