Philippians 4:18
18 At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.
The Philippian believers had sent Epaphroditus as their representative to help Paul. Now they are told how appreciative Paul was of the gifts Epaphroditus brought. Note how Paul described these financial gifts: “They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.” The gifts were more than material items, they were really a sacrifice that pleased God. Some today labor in difficult circumstances to spiritually minister to others. Surely they also look at any supporting gifts as sacrifices that are pleasing to God.
REFLECTION
Does it help you to think of any financial support you can give to those ministering spiritually as a sacrifice that pleases God?
RESPOND
Talk with your disciple what you are learning about financially supporting someone ministering the gospel as a sacrifice that is pleasing to God.
