Philippians 4:21-23
21 Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people—all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings. 22 And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s household. 23 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
Paul ends his letter to the Philippians by sending his greetings to all the believers the Philippians knew about. He also sent greetings from believers who were with him. He especially mentioned those in Caesar’s household. This means there were believers in Nero’s stronghold. The Romans attempted to snuff out Christianity, but by arresting Paul they brought it into their midst and some had been converted to Christ. The sovereign God can take what seems like a bad situation and use it to bring glory to Himself.
REFLECT
Ponder the times you thought something bad had really turned out for good and something even better.
RESPOND
With your disciple, read 1 Thessalonians 2:1-3 about what Paul later wrote to the believers in Thessalonica about how God used a bad situation to bring about His glorious plan. Also spend time reviewing what you have learned from this study of Philippians.
