Philippians 1:18-19
18 But that doesn’t matter. Whether their motives are false or genuine, the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice. 19 For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.
Regardless of whether the motives of others preaching the gospel were good or bad, notice what Paul said. He rejoiced that Christ was being preached. In spite of what others might think, he said “I will continue to rejoice.” Some would not want you to rejoice over those who were preaching with wrong motives; Paul’s concern was that the name of Christ was being proclaimed. Paul thought the prayers of God’s people and the preaching of Christ’s name would finally bring his deliverance.
REFLECT
Are you able to rejoice when you think some are preaching Christ with the wrong motives?
RESPOND
Check your own thoughts about some whom you think should quit preaching even though the name of Christ is being proclaimed by them. Be specific and honest with God about your heart attitude.
