Philippians - Week 4 - Day 2

READ

Philippians 2:3-4

3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

After telling believers what to do, Paul now tells them what not to do. It seems that being selfish is what causes the other problems—trying to impress others, not being humble, thinking you are better than others, looking out for only your interests. Paul was being specific in what he was telling the believers, and in case they needed an example, he provides it in the following verses.

How do you rate with this list Paul gives?

RESPOND

Read Galatians 5:22-23 to see how the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life is the opposite of being selfish.
