Philippians 2:19-21
19 If the Lord Jesus is willing, I hope to send Timothy to you soon for a visit. Then he can cheer me up by telling me how you are getting along. 20 I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. 21 All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ.
Paul tells the Philippian believers of his desire to send Timothy to them. Timothy was an assistant to Paul and dearly treasured as a his friend and a dear son in the faith. Paul had discipled Timothy and had confidence in him. Paul wanted to learn how things were going with the believers and thought a report from Timothy about them would cheer him up. Note Paul’s glowing comments about Timothy in contrast to others who care only about themselves.
REFLECT
Are you like Timothy? Do you focus more on yourself than others and the matters related to Jesus?
