Philippians 2:22-24
22 But you know how Timothy has proved himself. Like a son with his father, he has served with me in preaching the Good News. 23 I hope to send him to you just as soon as I find out what is going to happen to me here. 24 And I have confidence from the Lord that I myself will come to see you soon.
Paul reminds the believers how Timothy has proved himself and served with Paul like a son in preaching the gospel. Paul was apparently waiting on a decision about his legal situation as he mentions “as soon as I find out what is going to happen to me here.” Paul was eventually released at this time but was imprisoned again later at which time he wrote his last letter known as 2 Timothy to his dear disciple.
REFLECT
What is your testimony about serving with an older believer as Timothy served with Paul? As some have said, “Every Timothy needs a Paul, and every Paul needs a Timothy.”
RESPOND
Do you consider your disciple a Timothy? You should desire to pour your life into a younger believer to help that person understand the Bible better and how to live the Christian life.
