READ
Philippians 2:28-30
28 So I am all the more anxious to send him back to you, for I know you will be glad to see him, and then I will not be so worried about you. 29 Welcome him in the Lord’s love and with great joy, and give him the honor that people like him deserve. 30 For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while doing for me what you couldn’t do from far away.
Having commented about Epaphroditus, Paul now concluded with these words about him. He had come from the Philippians and Paul was anxious to send him back to them. Paul even instructed them how to receive him—in the Lord’s love; with great joy, and the honor he deserves. The reason for this was that Epaphroditus had risked his life for the Lord Jesus. He was also near death doing what the Philippians were not able to do for Paul.
REFLECT
How do you welcome believers in Christ who have been serving your church and return to give a report? Paul gives an example of what should be done.
RESPOND
Read Acts 15:4-11 to see how the first missionary conference went. Paul and Barnabas were welcomed back and there was a problem to be solved about how one becomes right with God.
