READ
Philippians 3:1
Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith.
Paul begins the latter half of his letter to the Philippian believers by telling them to rejoice in the Lord no matter what happens. He had told them this before and now he says he never gets tired of telling them the same things. Then he gives his reason: he did it to safeguard their faith. As someone has said, “Happiness depends on what happens; joy depends on one’s belief in the sovereignty of God.”
REFLECT
How do you react to difficult circumstances? Do you have confidence in the sovereignty of God no matter what happens?
RESPOND
Read Romans 8:31-39 that reveals nothing can separate believers from the love of God.
