READ
Philippians 3:13-14
13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
One wonders what Paul meant by “forgetting the past.” Was it that when he was an unbeliever he had been responsible for persecuting believers who he now loves? Whatever he was thinking about, he made it clear his focus was on the future, not on the past. He looked forward to receiving the heavenly prize that God, through Christ is calling us. In Paul’s last letter recorded in the Scriptures he also mentioned receiving the crown of righteousness.
REFLECT
Do you look forward to receiving a crown for faithfully serving the Lord Jesus?
RESPOND
Read 2 Timothy 4:7-9 where Paul refers to receiving the crown of righteousness and mentions others who could expect the same.
