READ
Philippians 4:1
1 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work.
Here again is seen Paul’s love for the believers in Philippi. He wanted them to stay true to the Lord. He was strongly desiring to see them and assured them that they were his “joy and the crown” he would receive for his work with them. Earlier he had referred to the “crown of righteousness” he and others would receive who eagerly looked forward to the Lord’s appearing. Here he refers to a crown he would receive for his work among the believers. Note that it wasn’t work he disliked; they were his joy.
REFLECT
Are those who serve you spiritually able to consider it a joy and a crown they will receive?
RESPOND
Read 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20 to see that the believers in Thessalonica were also Paul’s joy and expected crown. Do you have this same attitude as you work with other believers?
