READ
Philippians 4:4-5
4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
Philippians 4:4 is thought by some to be a key verse for this letter. Even though he was imprisoned and likely had a guard sitting beside him as he wrote, Paul wanted the Philippian believers to be full of joy and rejoice. Note this was not in circumstances but “in the Lord.” Paul wanted the testimony of believers to be seen by “everyone.” Paul referred to the Lord coming soon. The Lord did not return in Paul’s time but think how much closer His coming is now.
REFLECT
Think about those in your life. Are some difficult to love? Ask the Lord to help you show your gentleness and reasonableness to them.
RESPOND
Talk with your disciple about what you can do to show God’s love to people who are difficult to love.
