Philippians 4:8-9
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
Here Paul provides a list of that on which believers’ thoughts should be fixed. Note that there is nothing negative in the list. Negative thoughts would turn into worry, and Paul had just told believers not to worry about anything but to pray about everything. If in doubt of what to do, Paul reminded believers to practice what they had learned from him. If they thought like this and followed his example, Paul assured them they would experience peace from the “God of peace.”
REFLECT
When a thought is consuming your mind, compare it with this list Paul gave to see if that’s the kind of thing you should be thinking about.
RESPOND
Read Psalm 104:33-34 to see the desire of the psalmist regarding his thoughts.
