RECEIVE
Titus 1:8-9
8 Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life. 9 He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.
Paul continued to write about the qualifications of elders. This is an important listing that should be followed in choosing church leaders. Notice an elder is to have “a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught.” If one is uncertain about his message, he will make his listeners unsure about their faith. The elder should also be able to oppose others when they are wrong.
REFLECT
Think about these qualifications that should be met by those chosen to lead your church.
RESPOND
Talk with a friend about each qualification for an elder that Paul listed. This shows the high standards that leaders should meet. This is why they should also be highly respected. See 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 in this regard.
