RECEIVE
Titus 1:10-11
10 For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others. This is especially true of those who insist on circumcision for salvation. 11 They must be silenced, because they are turning whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it only for money.
Church leaders must challenge those who would teach falsely. Those who insisted on circumcision being added to having faith in Jesus for salvation were teaching a works-based salvation. Paul instructed elders to silence such false teachers. He added that the false teachers were doing it for the financial profit they could gain.
REFLECT
Have you thought previously about those who wish to add other things to faith in Jesus in order to be right with God? This is true whether it is baptism, church membership or other good works. Remember that faith + works = works.
RESPOND
Join with a friend in reading about Abraham and his faith. Romans 4:9-12; 20-25. Seek to have a strong faith like Abraham had. May you be convinced as Abraham was that God is able to do anything He promises.
