RECEIVE
Titus 2:4-5
4 These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, 5 to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.
Notice what Paul expressed older women “must” do. They were to train younger women in seven different areas, all relating to being a godly younger woman. If the younger ones followed the instructions of the older women to be and do all of these directions, “they will not bring shame on the word of God.”
REFLECT
Paul was not short of information about what Titus should teach older women to teach younger women. Following these clear instructions would make godly homes.
RESPOND
Visit with a friend in looking at each of the seven instructions older women were to teach younger ones. Even if they are not directly applicable to you, this exercise will help you counsel others in the future. For wives to be “submissive” does not mean they are less than their husbands. Read 1 Corinthians 11:3 to see that there is rank in the godhead of the Father and the Son even though they are equal.
