RECEIVE
Titus 2:8
8 Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.
Paul was an example to Titus, the young preacher. Here Paul encouraged Titus to accurately teach the Scriptures so his teaching could not be criticized. If he would to this, Paul assured him that “those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.” This would mean that Titus must stay true to what the Bible teaches and not preach what the Bible does not say.
REFLECT
Does this passage encourage you to give only biblical answers to questions? If you are unsure what the Bible teaches about a question, promise to get back to the questioner after you have done some research.
RESPOND
Teaching only what the Bible says follows the instructions Paul gave to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15. This also means that when people ask questions that God has not answered in the Bible, believers should not seek to answer them. For everything unknown, we can fully trust God that it will be perfectly just and good.
