RECEIVE
Titus 3:1-2
1 Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good. 2 They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.
Paul continued to tell Titus what he should tell his listeners. They were to be submissive to the government and its officers. They were not to tell unfounded stories about others and were not to quarrel. As believers in Jesus they were to be gentle and demonstrate their humility to others.
REFLECT
Do you follow these instructions Paul gave to Titus? Doing so will allow others to see the characteristics of Jesus in your life.
RESPOND
Visit with a friend about the passage in Romans 13:1-5 that instructs about submitting to governing authorities. Then read Acts 4:16-19 that shows when disobedience to the government (civil disobedience) is necessary for believers in Jesus. This does not mean believers will escape suffering the consequences of disobedience.
