RECEIVE
Titus 3:3-5
3 Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other. 4 But—When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, 5 he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
Once again the apostle Paul stressed that one becomes right with God because of His mercy and not because of any good works a person does. When one believes in Jesus, sins are “washed away” and he or she experiences the new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. This is similar to what Jesus told Nicodemus as recorded in John 3:3-8.
REFLECT
As a believer in Jesus you have experienced two births: the birth on earth and the one that came from heaven produced by the Holy Spirit.
RESPOND
Join with a friend in reading John 1:10-13. Notice it is not just believing that Jesus lived at a point in time but also that one believes in, or trusts in, Him as Savior.
